Limited edition UK pressing of this legendary set from 6/18/1979, where the group first played material from their soon-to-be released classic "METAL BOX" in front of an audience. Sourced from the original soundboard cassette master, sounds top notch! High quality jacket, great artwork, a must have!
"On June 18th, 1979, Public Image Ltd. traveled north to Manchester to perform two songs for broadcast on Granada Television. That afternoon John Lydon contacted Tony Wilson (then working as a broadcaster for Granada TV, later the founder of Factory Records) and expressed interest in playing a spontaneous gig later that evening. Immediate arraignments are made and news is spread by word of mouth and the band is on stage later that night at the Russell Club (soon to be renamed “The Factory”). This was a truly historic and significant performance because it was drummer Richard Dudanski’s live debut (he had been in the band for a few weeks) and the first time the group ever played material from their soon-to-be-released classic “Metal Box” album in front of an audience. You can literally hear the new material coming together as the band performs these tracks live for the first time. This album is sourced from the original soundboard cassette master and sounds excellent." A1 Chant A2 Death Disco A3 Memories B1 Public Image B2 Annalisa B3 No Birds Do Sing
