Producer XL Middleton (credited here as Matthew Middleton) effectively bridges the gap between the classic soul sound and the modern funk style he is known for within his own work as a recording artist, bringing together soulful guitar work and piano chords with analog synth bass and lead sounds, as Jonez beckons to his would-be love to “just say yes, don’t say no, let me take you where I wanna go.
