STL teases out nine tracks of real raw beat down and Chicago house on a handsome 2x12" pack. 'And His Quest For Sound' is about the most fitting title for Laubner's heroically endless mission, giving him the remit to reshape his crooked sound and constantly experiment within self-imposed parameters. To some folks these might not be the most immediate dancefloor tracks, as he generally prefers a pretty abstract and intuitive style, but give them a chance and they soon appear to grow and perspire in front of your ears as their rhythms lay down spidery roots and find their feet in uniquely timeless fashion. If you picked up his excellent Smallville 12" you'll love the mystical dub house tune 'Third Ear' but if you're more inclined towards his rougher Chicago style or more rugged Boo Williams beats then 'Come Together' and 'Cranky' will suit your mood. For pure and genuine hardware driven house music, there's not many that come close to this fella these days.
