Description

The Orchestra have blossomed, this album keeps the unique cinematic influences that laced Mr Swinscoe's debut elpee 'Motion' but adds more live instrumentation from local heroes John Ellis on various keys, Luke Flowers on drums, Rhodri Davis on harp and Milo Fell on percussion adding to Tom Chant's sax, Phil France's bass, P.C.'s electronics and turntables to make a sound so deep and killer it will be jazz lp of the year for people not even realising they are listening to jazz. The genius is in Swincoes's arranging and sampling that creates mind images and takes you back to those classic old jazz recordings from Max Roach, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock while injecting electronics, odd time signatures and digital suss. All tracks extended making this even more in the tradition, seven tracks over double wax and CD. Recent killer single 'All That You Give' starts things off then we reach 'Burn Out', an epic, genius downtempo modal beast that is almost too good... 'Flite' out 4-Hero's even Marc and Dego's jamming positioning it closer to Carl Craigs epic jazz remix of 'Bug In A Bassbin'. Even more on an epic scale is 'All Things To All Men', crushing jazz perfection made well spiky with Roots Manuva's manoeuvring. The closer is back to classic Cinematic, a whole host a slippery samples held together by the rhythm section with John Ellis' moogisms peaking. In closing 'Every Day' is a damned near perfect album.
