Though the Skatalites life as a band was brief, the band’s impact on Jamaican music can’t be overstated. This re-issue of their Ska Foundation album features thirty-two essential instrumentals and five vocal tracks, all recorded between 1964 and 1965, and document the birth and subsequent rise of ska music. This album is required listening for anyone interested in the roots of modern reggae, dancehall and ska.
