2021 UK Record Store Day release - Blackbeard is an alias of legendary reggae guitarist Dennis Bovell. A key figure in the London scene of the late 70s and early 80s, he had not only a fine career as a solo artist but was a go-to producer. In 1980 he put out his I Wah Dub album, which was a fine showcase of his eclectic and left of centre sound. Rooted in classic British dub but with plenty of his own flair, it has long been hard to find on wax despite being remastered for CD in 2003. It has had a towering influence on British dub over the years and is an essential addition to any dub head's racks.
