Description

A. Dave Cortez & The Moon People - Happy Soul (With A Hook) Latin funk/boogaloo bomb as sampled - allegedly without permission, initially - by Christina Aguilera. Dave `Baby' Cortez was an American born R&B piano and organ player, whose playing is prominent on here. `Happy Soul (With A Hook)' was originally released on 7" in 1968 on what would appear to be a fishing themed release by Speed Records, backed with `Fishin' With Sid'! There is also a hard-to-find 7-minute `disco mix' version that was released by Disco International on 12". The track was remixed by DJ Format for the `I Like It Like That: Fania Remixed' project in 2007. AA. La Lupe - Fever Cover of the seminal classic written by Eddie Cooley and John Davenport originally recorded by Little Willie John released on King. Made famous by Peggy Lee, also recorded by Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis. `La Lupe' was one of the Queen's of latin music thanks in part to her partnership with Tito Puente. She sadly passed away in 1992 after a very troubled period after her recording career with Fania. `Fever' was first released on 7" in 1963 on Mercury and then later in 1968 on Tico. The track was remixed by Sinden for the `I Like It Like That: Fania Remixed' project in 2007.
