First time vinyl pressing of this excellent suite of techno classics performed as solo piano variations* Despite its title, Francesco Tristano's Not For Piano, is in fact an album of ivory-tickling solos by the 25-year-old Juillard graduate. Tristano fuses together a variety of different performance styles, embarking upon that increasingly popular pursuit: the piano-based techno reinterpretation suite. Perhaps most unusual of all the covers here is Tristano's take on Autechre's 'Overand', from Tri Repetae, but in addition to that you'll encounter Jeff Mills' 'The Bells' and a rendition of 'Strings Of Life' to boot. In amongst all this frivolity you'll also find highly competent original modern classical compositions, all given that important finishing touch by producer Murcof, who knows a thing or two about classical-electronic crossovers himself.
