R&S present one of Lakker's strongest sessions to date with the 4-track 'Containing A Thousand' EP. Over the last ten years the Dublin-based duo have cultivated a unique take on electronic dance music, contouring techno with traces of electro, noise, and broken beats in a shifty, powerful style that's rightly earned the respect of the likes of AFX, who's been known to pepper his DJ sets with Lakker aces. Their muscular, dynamic sound designs are in full effect here, refusing gridlocked techno patterns to dice with skittish electro nodding to late '90s Autechre in the title track, whereas the crushing 'Mausoleum' synchs marbled beats and granite textures in a neck snapping hip hop lurch. The swaggering stepper 'K'antu' is our percy, keeping the rhythm right and tight against escalating trance motif showing off their knack for a compelling, techno-romantic turn of phrase in the breakdown and second motion, whilst 'Thermohaline' rinses off with a sound like Surgeon making instrumental Grime.
