Medicine Show #7 HIGH JAZZ
12" Vinyl

Product Description

Another Madlib invasion this, the 7th in his unbeatably diverse Medicine Show series. The title is a direct reference to a classic jazz-fusion album released by Stanton Davis's Ghetto Mysticism in 1976 and a perfect banner for the multifarious operations of our protagonist. It's no secret that 'lib harbours a serious love for the Jazz, evidenced in his brilliant Yesterdays New Quintet releases and the more Latin inflections of the Jackson Conti records. This time he splits himself between at least six different aliases, some solo, some in collaboration with jazz/HipHop drummer Karriem Riggins -as Jahari Masamba Unit - and another with celebrated songwriter James Poyser - who's responsible for tracks from The Roots, Jill Scott and Talib Kweli. The highlight for many will be the fifteen minute Yesterdays New Quintet medley 'Don't You Worry Bout A Thing (Live At Spear For Moondog)' captured in 2000, but we're quite taken with the spiritual freedom of the two tracks from The Big Black Foot Band feat. The Black Spirits. The attention to detail is second to none yet again, from the Blue Note style jacket to the centre stickers and of course, the music. A beautiful record.
