After producing one of the undoubted highlights of 2009 with the 'No Charisma/Inammi' 12", Martin Kemp, brother of Brackles and progenitor of a tribalist flexstep style alongside Bok Bok and Shortstuff, busts us up again with number 2 on the Blunted Robots catalogue. It's pure and deadly gear, laying down tumultuous riddim terrain on 'After The Night' and agitating his drums until they spurt luminous funk on 'Aztec'. The restless nature of his tracks heralds one of the brightest paths out of rhythmic torpor in dubstep, techno, house, garage or wotever, returning to tribalist principles where drums come before everything, augmented by the dread-futurist possibilities of ital subbass and enhanced by hypnotic synths that excite our sensibilities every time. We'd struggle to name a more potent blend of styles in circulation right now and therefore this record politely demands a space in your dancing schedule. Highly Recommended!A After The Night B Aztec
