This Cali-via-NYC producer (and co-founder of LA’s beloved Athletixx DJ collective) eschews run-of-the mill bangers for the bittersweet turn up of “Gunsmoke,” featuring Denzel Curry, Nell, J.K. The Reaper and Twelve’len, and short-story worthy clubland tales on “Ride Around” with Adam Vida. Meanwhile, Prom’s smooth stepper “Call Me” with Mark Johns nuzzles up against the space-age trunk rattle of “Cruise’n USA,” featuring LaDonnis. Promnite is bringing the love back to club music. For all their futuristic thump and sonic precision, the tracks on his Snake Charmer EP are wonderfully, messily human.
