It would seem that Skream has been keeping a couple of aces hidden up his sleeve for Loefah's Swamp 81 imprint. Dropping the label's second release, he displays a new found versatility and immensely dark sound on 'Repercussions Of A Razorblade', using doomy metallic drones and sparse radar bleeps to plate a downpitched and sub-industrial swingers riddim. Meanwhile 'New Dawn' on the underside harks back to the braced minimalism of classic Loefah with subliminal eyeball shaking subbass, meant to be felt and not heard, while bone-snapping canine snares bite straight through the cloistered atmospherics. If this and his recent Instra:mental remixes are anything to go by, 2010 will be a vintage year for Skream. Killer.
