Legendary Bay Area Hip Hop crew is back on the drawing board with their first single `That Type of Music' off the feature debut record `Rise Up' out in May on Om: Hip Hop. A long time coming, the combination of Zeph's funky antics on the chops and Azeem fire driven lyrics definitely form a monumental partnership. `That Type of Music' is a great entry to the full length record. Zeph keeps the music very dj friendly with his island flavored samples and funky horns. Azeem compliments the music with his wordplay and playful lyrics. On the remix, Afrodisiac Sound System bring the Afro beat heat with a uptempo bass driven rendition. Thumping basslines surrounded by minimal production makes this track perfect for the dance floor. On the B side, `Play the Drum' is a more traditional hip hop track that praises the foundation of every hip hop track, the drum. Zeph flips the beat with an obscure vocal sample that becomes the hook and laces chopped accordion samples over the drums. `Play the Drum' is a college radio anthem waiting to be spun. Also on the B Side, we have another remix of `That Type of Music,' this time by Bay Area's own DJ Enki. Enki churns out a big beat sound with a dirty sampled feel. In the same vein as Fat Boy Slim, this version is perfect for the global hip hop scene.
