Benny Trokan returns with another two sides of pure pop perfection! On a short break from his bass duties with indie rock legends, Spoon; and with a goal to track a song in a few hours, Benny gathered the troops and headed into Hive Mind studio. His version of The Five Emprees' “Hey Lover” (originally written by Don Covay) has been a long time staple favorite of Bennyʼs live set. So with Vince Chiarito (Charles Bradley's Extraordinaires, The Resonaires) behind the board, the gang hammered out their soulful, mid-tempo rendition by the Chicago teen-beat combo. On the flip is "Walking Back," a deep, brooding ballad that was recorded by Gabe Roth at Penrose studio in Riverside California. With haunting background vocals, eerie organ and Trokan's signature lament, this track creeps along at a lover's pace. Sure to turn some heads on the ever-growing low-rider scene. Anyone who slept on his first 45 take heed!
