BoomBaptist continues to revise the winning 90's Boom-Bap formula pioneered by golden era hip-hop greats. The Texas-based, RBMA participant has found his sound, receiving invitations to baptize Low End Theory, Tokyo, & Bonaroo Music Festival. He has previously collaborated with Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, Celph Titled, & Termanology; landing music placements on Comedy Central’s “Broad City”, BBC radio, Soulection radio & NPR. He is the co-founder of boogie/funk outfit The Vapor Caves. His performances have accompanied such acts as: Kaytranada, RJD2, & Mndsgn.
BoomBaptist began producing in 1998, citing DJ Premier, Pete Rock, & RZA as his first motivation to learn the art. Two decades in the game, after countless beat-tapes and collaborations, his debut, solo LP arrives. Before starting this record, he opened a video game arcade that housed many of the games of his youth. One game in particular inspired "Boom Shakalaka". Razzle dazzle and high-flying dunks reigned supreme in this flash of nostalgia and BoomBaptist's love for 90's era basketball resulted in "Boom Shakalaka". This album consists of 11, sample-heavy tracks produced with rappers in mind and packed with rare moments from the game.
