black vinyl version - Los Angeles band Chicano Batman have always managed to masterfully blend the sounds of their funk and soul predecessors with a contemporary style. Three years since the release of their acclaimed Freedom Is Free, Chicano Batman's latest album, Invisible People, sees the band pushing their sound further, further incorporating new elements of modern psychedelia and R&B.
While the Tropicália and old school funk influences are still prominent within the album, Invisible People finds Chicano Batman gravitating towards a more contemporary sound. Chicano Batman's style feels less nostalgic than their earlier releases — the turn towards modernity has the band exploring new territory, allowing their sound to stand alone without heavy comparisons.
