Experimental rock with real gravitas and emotion delivered by Steven Hess (Locrian/Pan-American/Innode) and Michael Vallera (COIN/Maar) on revered local label, Immune Recordings. With more time served than most in Chicago's famous experimental rock scene, they've got little to prove but still do it cannier than most with a precisely stripped, efficient mix of percussion and processed guitars rent with narcotically affective atmospheres and emotion. In comparison with their 'Breaking Day' album, they've tempered the percussion and guitars to allow more space for their reverbs and harmonics to resonate inna dubwise style, creating vaulted headspace where snares ricochet for miles into the distance and guitars peal and keen into impenetrable clouds of bitter discord. But that's only half of it; the other half is classically-rooted shoegazing music paying tribute to legendary records by The Durutti Column and Cocteau Twins with an acute sense of melancholy.
