Double LP version. This is the third full-length release for Fabrizio and Marco D'Arcangelo on the Rephlex label. The aim behind Exsel is to gather the quintessence of the D'Arcangelo project over the last 10 years. This is a non-conventional work where melodies and retro-synths are surrounded by frantic rhythms, ecstatic harmonies and classic methodology. Despite a penchant for traditionalism, errata exists on this release, such as "Distant Sound Of Nothing More," a tribute to composer Lupi (1908-1971) and his theories on gravitational harmony. Also, "Irko" is an exceptionally experimental and frantic track characterized by a rhythmic crescendo. To sum it up, this is an album reflecting all peculiarities of the D'Arcangelo electronic project for old and new generations of braindancers.
