FZPZ’s Hidden Personas is a poetic dichotomy of traditional and modern, classical and electronic, cultural and ethnic. It is also an apex of maturity, culture, and inspiration. Even the titles illustrate an episodic narrative, each a distinct persona and trait of the artist, revealed while on a personal journey of self-discovery. This new resonance draws influences from 70s Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz and even classical. The distinct orchestral soundscape is a significant dissonance from the usual microwave and throwaway beats, which also reflects his current influences of Phyllis Hyman, Miles Davis, and you hear a lot of Yutaka in “Swordsman”. Hidden Personas is executed with sophisticated dexterity, a clear indication of a new direction forward for FZPZ.
