Even the titles illustrate an episodic narrative, each a distinct persona and trait of the artist, revealed while on a personal journey of self-discovery. This new resonance draws influences from 70s Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz and even classical. The distinct orchestral soundscape is a significant dissonance from the usual microwave and throwaway beats, which also reflects his current influences of Phyllis Hyman, Miles Davis, and you hear a lot of Yutaka in “Swordsman”.
