Justin Broadrick's Godflesh churn up 'A World Lit Only By Fire' on their first new album in 13 years. Known as B.C. Green and JK Broadrick to the authorities, Godflesh are perhaps the best known exponents of industrial metal that the world has known: they single-handedly invented the genre with their eponymous debut in 1988 and have dominated discerning moshpits ever since with thunderous drum machines crushed by patented, claw-handed riffage. And thank f**k nowt has changed since their last LP, 'Hymns' in 2001. On 'A World Lit Only By Fire' they're still a pair of Brummie badasses, from the gut-punch lashes of opener 'New Dark Ages' to the funked-up tension of 'Shut Me Down' and the slamming force of 'Life Giver Life Taker', thru the roof-rubbling roar of 'Forgive Our Fathers' that leaves us pulped, gasping, and eager to do it all again.
