‘Alpha Omega’ is the sound of Goldie reclaiming classic ground that he, as spearhead of a broader movement, established in the early ‘90s, when he was a graffiti artist producing beats to be played by his partner and peer DJs Kemistry & Storm. Whilst his run of Rufige Kru 12”s 1992-’93 were utterly foundational to breakbeat hardcore and its transition into D&B, and paved the way for his Goldie classics, subsequent revivals of the Kru handle in the late ‘00s left us and many others wanting. Not so with this one, though, which properly recapitulates the cutting edge and discipline of mid-late ‘90s golden era D&B on a dozen cuts of ravishing rudeness rife with a sense of shine-eyed nostalgia for the good stuff, but galvanised with a balance of steely techgnostic futurism and romantic timelessness that still kills in 2025.
