The always reliable Funk Night label has put out more than 160 essential 45s and the latest is another slice of gold. It is just one of three, yes three, 7"s John Reed and the Automatics are putting out this month and it is supercharged stuff: a-side 'Funky Mule' has powerful horns, hard hitting beats and a raw and rugged aesthetic that will demand plenty of sweat on the dance floor. On the flip is a cover of an all time classic - 'Reach Out I'll Be There' gets reworked as a more strident beat with a lead riff that will get hands in the air.
