Records presents the first reissue of La New Breed Orquesta's "Jala Jala Woe Woe Baby" since its original release on Fonseca Records in the late 60s. Like so many of the other projects, this really is the studio capturing of a live band as the old Latin rhythms of Guajira, Mambo, et. al, gave way to the new rhythms such as the Jala Jala, Boogaloo, and Guaguanco. Clearly there is a Fonseca sound: a live band capable of cooking new dance rhythms, and skilled enough to flirt with Jazz - with one foot in the traditions of Puerto Rico and one foot in the streets of New York.
