Much-anticipated new single from Laurel Halo, a sweet and moreish dessert that follows the opinion-dividing main course of her Quarantine LP. You can see why 'Sunlight On The Faded' wasn't included on the album: Laurel here eschews the raw, scantly treated singing style that delighted some and irritated others, in favour of an altogether warmer, more mellifluous approach, her multi-tracked vocals even reminding us of Tracey Thorn's distinctive lilt. The production too sounds less alienated, all swaying Inner City Life synths, skittering, IDMish drum patterns and nuff sub-bass heft. The beautifully worked dub accentuates these qualities, stripping the vocals away to reveal the fully glory of the tripped-out, avant-garde and deeply romantic soundsystem music that lies beneath.
