Description

Mines origins trace back to Missoula, Montana, where Aaron, Chad and Ron all met and played music together in various bands and configurations in the mid to late 90's. They all ended up in Seattle where Chad and Aaron played together in an early 5-piece configuration of The Dutch Flat. Around the end of 2001, The Dutch Flat relocated to Portland as a trio, leaving Chad and Aaron in Seattle, where Chad's side project with Ron evolved into Mines. After, releasing their debut full-length- The Way the Wind Whips the Water (WLR009) as a trio in late 2002, Tim came on board as the full-time bass player. They recorded a 2nd album in early 2004, which was released in Japan on & Records. It has not yet been released domestically, tho it will likely be released on Woodson Lateral in the not-too-distant future. Currently the band is on hiatus, while members are busy with seperate projects. Ron filled in as 2nd guitarist for a tour with Portland's amazing Joggers, did some time behind the bass with our own Treasure State, has been working on his own Ghost Stories project, and most recently was hired on as the new drummer for The Fruit Bats. Chad is currently living in NYC with his talented girlfriend and playing some great singer/songwriter stuff as Field Notes. His first album, The Color Of Sunshine is due out on Woodson Lateral Nov.1, 2005. Aaron has been taking a break from the drum kit to focus on his electronic music in the tech-house vien. Mines music combines pop sensibilities with more challenging instrumentation and arrangements, and occasional dashes of progy/mathy flair between their (most recent) emphasis on speedy power pop songcraft. The result is a perfect comprimise between your sing-along side and your post-rock leanings.
