Modeselektor's phenomenal `Modeselektion' compilation set them up as more than just artists back in 2010. It made people aware that they were just as important as curators, and heralded the beginning of a wave of releases from their 50 Weapons and Monkeytown imprints. The Berlin duo kick off their `Modeselekion Vol. 2' compilation with this one-two punch from themselves (cheeky, but worth it) and nouveau bass ledge Martyn. The Modeselektor cut finds our lads on a motoric, electroid tip with `Maik The Chicken', a banger that shows they might have been spending a fair bit of time with their ears to the Berghain back door recently. Our pick is the Martyn cut `Red Dancers' though, which takes the wonky retro-step of his Brainfeeder LP and expands on it in every way, sounding like Detroit in 1987, Birmingham in 1997 and London right now in the same stroke. Heavy wares. On White Wax.
