The long-awaited and finally-realized Mr. Bambu full length album is now upon us, and it has been well worth the waiting and contemplating. The past year has seen a whirlwind of remix/mashup work from Mr. Bambu, but what of his own sounds and ideas? Well, we will ask no more, for the answer is before us in "Complete Contemplation".
This album offers that which today's producer/downtempo/hip-hop releases lack so severely: imagination, a different palette of sounds, some humor, and above all SOUL. A distinct and separate feeling accompanies each track, and while the neck-snapping hip-hop groove resides at it's core, each song comes alive in it's own way, building and demolishing itself within the time alloted. The style of beat-making changes as often as the tracks themselves. From straight up chopped-loop bangers, to spliced up sample mosaic work, to live instrumentation, Mr. Bambu covers all ground and explores every nook and cranny of the track at hand.
This album also features the vocal talent of world-renown hip-hop collective CYNE on the ultimate good time party banger "Most Delightful", which finds them turning in their activist steez for a throw-it-down-and-party style, which suits the track perfectly. Not to mention that song features one of the most infectious sing-along party hooks in the history of hip-hop. Featured also are the Stigmata Bros, on the half-time quick-spittin' banger "Steal They Nightclothes", an ode to pulling pranks and enjoying vandalism over a bouncing, dusty dank blowing beat. Finally, to round out the album, we have a remix from the prolific and talented Jon Kennedy, who tackles Bambu's "Lunar Eclipse Style" with effortless grace and very funky ease.
A well-rounded and fun album for lovers of hard beats, smart grooves, and heavy vibes awaits you all in "Complete Contemplation": a definitive statement from Mr. Bambu and Organik Recordings.
