Monkey Steak's long threatened Steakhouse Records finally precipitates it's debut load with two tracks of hybrid dub-techno/2-step from Portuguese producers. Mr Gasparov hails from Lisbon and apparently uses a synth made from an old McDonalds till point, togther with graphics tablets and Midi-Controllers to manufacture a jumpy blend of hard-hitting subs and technoid 2-step on '1975', think El-B meets Aphex Twin under a tropical sky. On the flip Octapush fuse UK Garage with skittering electronica and chanted tribal vocals on 'Ai Nadia', and itchin' 2-step with female vocals on 'Laika Likes It'. One for the rave, Dave, and fans of Untold, Atki2 or Bass Clef. Sick twelve!
