Sometimes dreams come true! Vinyl Digital is very proud to present you the next exclusive vinyl release: Pete Rock / Deda - The Original Baby Pa! As if shelving the InI album Center of Attention wasn't bad enough, Elektra thought it was good idea to shelve the other Pete Rock project of 1995: Deda's The Original Baby Pa. Elektra must of been public enemy #1 in hip-hop: it already shelved KMD's Black Bastards and now it's shelving not one, but two Pete Rock projects?! Eight years later, both Pete Rock projects finally found distribution through BBE Records, and Vinyldigital is finally reissuing Original Baby Pa!
Obviously, The Original Baby Pa is produced entirely by Pete Rock. One of the best things about hip-hop music is Pete Rock, especially during his peak in the mid '90s. Just give this guy a turntable, an SP1200, and James Brown or Big Daddy Kane on vinyl and he'll create five or six of the best beats you'll ever hear! The Original Baby Pa is more-or-less a continuation of the sound he did on The Main Ingredient; real jazzy sounds, funky bridges, excellent scratching, sampled voices from older rap songs, familiar samples, nice bass, and crisp drums. Overall, the production here is a little less lush than The Main Ingredient and Center of Attention but that's okay because this fits Deda's style a little better.
