Swedish skwee lynchpin Randy Barracuda is back, and while his debut was a genre-defining Flogsta Danshall moment, `The Random Works, Vol II' is altogether more, well, funky. Diving headfirst into the kind of chippy 8-bit sounds that came to represent the whole genre, Barracuda uses this as simply a starting point for his altogether very sleazy pop music. His vocals are smeared over each track like brown butter, and while the beats sound like they could have been generated on Atari ST tracking software it somehow manages to conjure up the spirit of Parliament/Funkadelic. Very weird stuff as ever from Scandinavia, and all the better for it.
