The swirling image on the cover's a great hint at what you've got in store on the album – a cool, trippy take on funky instrumental territory – maybe a bit like some of the freaky European funk albums from the late 60s! Recorded in the south of France and cut straight to four-track, this release captures Saint Tropez Orchestra in raw, unguarded form. Rather than waiting on delayed plans for a more polished follow-up, the group opted to document what they do best: tight, sweaty funk played at volume, with little separation between instinct and execution. The tracks move fast and loose. 'Path To Enlightenment' and 'Solid Soul Shakedown' kick things off with clipped riffs and driving rhythm, while 'Midnite Climax' and 'Soul Stomp' dig deeper into groove and repetition. Elsewhere, rough edges are left intact, from distorted bass to rattling percussion. It plays like a basement set caught mid-flow, direct and physical, built for movement rather than refinement.
