The lady in the bathtub full of funky 45s is Marietta Smith – a hell of a lead singer for this fantastic funky combo from the UK – one who seem ready to match, if not beat, some of the best work of the Daptone generation! The group is wonderfully tight – word is that they've been working together for a decade – and Smith is a very dynamic singer, and one who's really part of the group – not just layered on top. The blend of vocals and funky instrumentation is fantastic – and the record bristles with the sort of fresh energy that should make these guys huge, if there's still any justice left in the record business.
