A reissue of a very rare boogie funk gem originally released in 1984 on the legendary Budweiser Showdown label. This Houston-based label was behind the national Budweiser Showdown talent competitions of the early '80s, and every release from their catalog is a sought-after classic.
This one comes from the NYC band Contreras / Sokolov / Milgrom, also known as the Ray Contreras Band. "You Make It Harder" is a deep cut known only to a few hardcore collectors — now reissued for the first time as a 12” single! The record also includes four previously unreleased tracks that showcase the group’s multicultural, synth-heavy boogie funk sound. Packaged with a full sleeve telling the story of their rise, from winning the WBLS Budweiser Showdown to just missing the national title.
