The Wax Preachers are a horn-driven, hard-hitting instrumental funk outfit from London, drawing deep inspiration from vintage funk and roots traditions. This one on Funk Night opens in potent fashion with 'The Holy Mountain' which rides on hard-hitting and funky breaks. The horns are big and raw, the bass pings about and the energy is irresistibly big. They sit back a little on 'Sun Trap ' and allow the drums more room to breathe, with celebrity horns and vamping stabs all switching things up and allowing different aspects of the arrangement to shine. It's timeless stuff packed with great musicianship.
