To say that The Transgressors don't put out much music is an understatement. The group formed in Texas in 2000 and describes themselves as " a Telecaster-driven Texas noir band" and they are inspired by West Texas rock and roll, East Texas country and Austin psych. Here they land on the brilliant funk Night with a pair of classics: 'The Biz' is sleazy and raw, a swaggering sound that goes nowhere fast but locks you in the deep cut groove. There is more movement to 'Beyond Addis' which, as the title suggest stakes on Ethiopian jazz motifs, a meandering flute lead and sense of inquisition that really takes you with it.
