Trippie Redd has been one of the more disrespected artists because of this new social media era of rap, as he doesn’t get nearly the amount of credit that he deserves, particularly from the older crows and traditionalists. From the hype he has earned as an artist especially since the release of his first two mix tapes, A Love Letter To You and A Love Letter To You 2 last year, it was only a matter of time until Redd released his first commercial debut album. After teasing a project on social media for what seems to be an eternity, we finally get Trippie’s debut project Life’s A Trip with features from Young Thug, Travis Scott, Reese LAFLARE and Diplo.
Under the facade of the face tattoos, bragadocious attitude and social media persona that rapper Trippie Redd has put on over the past two years, it’s clear that Trippie Redd’s music is as morbid as it is personal. Trippie Redd picks up where Kid Cudi and some of his fallen comrades (Lil Peep and XXXtentacion) left off nearly a decade later with his interperatation of emo punk rap. Much like the artists listed before him, it’s clear that their personal demons have inspired some of their best work and Trippie Redd’ s Life’s A Trip debut album is an inside look into the life of Trippie Redd.
