repress on yellow vinyl - There's always been an element of mystery about the Creature releases, in part because they're usually hush-hush re-makes or re-edits. That said, they're reportedly the work of Barcelona-based producer Maher Daniel. Either way, this two tracker, which originally appeared on vinyl back in 2019 and has been in high demand online since, is the series strongest release. A-side 'Tom's D' is a new take on DNA featuring Suzanne Vega club classic Tom's Diner', with delay laden-snippets of the familiar original vocal rubbing shoulders with spacey pads and occasional subtle funk samples atop a booming bassline and infectious house breaks.
Flip-side 'Orbitar' meanwhile breathes new life into Orbital deep house classic 'Belfast', looping up punchier sections of their rhythm track while adding deep, hazy chords, trippy vocal samples and some suitably psychedelic TB-303 acid lines.
