Prolific collaborator and musical connector JJ Whitefield is back on Funk Night with one of several new projects he has on the go, and this one presents Vanue. The A-side features 'Astaweseqni', a concise but impactful sound that taps into low, liquid funk with tones of echo, mystic forgiven language vocal that hypnotise and a star-gazing melodic edge. On the flip, it becomes even more melted around the edges with Whitefield Soundz's 'Assra Ahnd Part 2' a sn instrumentally rich funk blend with plenty of Thai and psyche overtones and echoes of acts like Khruangbin.
