2105 reissue - Towards the end of his Bop period, legendary jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery reunited with fellow Hoosier, and Hammond B-3 master, Melvin Rhyne on several sessions. The first of that series was 1963's Boss Guitar, featuring the outstanding Jimmy Cobb on drums. Highlights off the LP include a cooking 6/8 version of "Besame Mucho," the funky Montgomery blues "Fried Pies," and Montgomery's dazzling showpiece "The Trick Bag." A classic Bop LP that holds it's own over time.
