About Group is the experimental, jazz-tinged outlet for Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, legendary drummer Charles Hayward, Spiritualized's John Coxon and celebrated pianist/keys player Pat Thomas. Theo Parrish and Mokmix aka Spring Heel Jack are enlisted to remix their remake of Terry Riley's own revision of Harvey Averne's titular latin soul number, which is notably credited as one of the first remixes ever created. Theo P's version finely rebuilds their studio version, layering stray astro-noise and Taylor's vocals over harmonic humming chords for a proper earworming effect. Those earworms are pushed deeper with a thick kick until they entwine with the vocals in web of silky modern soul. Mokmix's version, by contrast is dumpy and uninspired, with too much emphasis on the heavy dancefloor engineering not leaving enough room for the soul factor.
