Black Acre strike another ace debut with Alby Daniels' 'This Dawn' EP. Like the label's vaunted roster of Blue Daisy, Fantastic Mr Fox and Blue Daisy, Alby's doing something very crafty at once outside of, and within the Dubstep spectrum's parameters, thanks largely to his skilled mastery of production dynamics. His sound is arranged with an almost pop-wise sense of economy and maximised for optimal impact on the 'floor or the dance. This is best heard on the 45rpm cut A-side 'This Dawn', sounding like Guido-meets-SaRa in R&B/Dubstep hyperspace, and to a more tender degree on the deftly diffused digital boogie of 'Her About Something'. Fans of Techy, IDM-sharp electronics and soulful futurism should check this out.
