HUGO SANCHEZ and RODION of ALIEN ALIEN (Gomma / Eskimo) return from a cosmic voyage out in deepest, blackest space back to Earth with a new release for Discaire. From their interstellar expedition the pair conjures up dark sounds submerged deep in an abandoned nightclub basement once frequented by a distant, technologically advanced civilization. The title track, "The Nights" is an exploration of the space time continuum where bass lines bend one way or another before going into an arpeggiated, nu-disco hyperdrive. The track's cinematic melodies warp sideways and back in line as granulated synth effects shift from amoeba-like structures to a solid form. On the other side, "Monday" is a house cut that features night-stalking salsa hand claps, wild aboriginal sounds with an infectious vocal mantra intoned throughout the track--a return to earlier motifs Alien Alien is known for especially with the Sambaca/Black Guru EP from 2011.
