Exciting times for the 140 scene as drum and bass legend Alix Perez returns to dubstep for a second time now. Following up his award-winning "Last Rites" EP from May 2019, the architect behind 1985 Music unleashes the next heavyweight 140 plate. In a recent chat with Red Bull UK about his forthcoming "Ravana" EP, Alix mentioned: "I’m really enjoying writing at this tempo at the moment. There’s lots of exciting music and producers coming out, it feels fresh. I had a good response on my last venture, so I felt inspired to write more material and this is the result. Really happy to have the collaboration with Headland featured on the release, I love his output."
Alix Perez' interest in dubstep might seem to come a little out of nowhere, although back in the days he used to attend pioneering nights such as Plastic People. He was even featured on the legendary Tempa Allstars compilation, so we guess there has always been that natural connection with the culture. Renowned for his ability to move seamlessly through tempos, Alix has been playing a decent bit of dubstep records in his sets. A good reference would be the recorded Keep Hush session which reached almost 100.000 plays in a few months and he was found headlining more similar dubstep nights in the UK. Not really a big surprise to see him dropping this follow-up record. Moreover his enthusiasm about the 140 culture emphasizes the current health of the sound and scene and brings only more exposure to it.
