Nearly 30 years strong, Ugly Duckling is a Long Beach based hip-hop group that has always stayed true to the earliest movements in the genre. Quietly topping up their discog every year or so, their latest is a tongue-in-cheek critique of the scene for not recognizing James Brown's influence on rap. A medley of pillaging artists from Salt N' Pepa to Black Eyed Peas to Dr. Dre appear on this hilarious cycle-through, with some precision breakwork to boot - all original JB samples, of course. They had a hit, and here's the means; they used that James Brown!
