Description

From the suburbs of Montreal's West Island where most kids play in metal and punk bands comes an outfit of young fellas who are trying to do one thing: Bring back real R&B.

Benny Westmore, founder of Montreal's own Papa Bill Records, has always been entranced by soul music from the late 50's and 60's. He founded Papa Bill Records in hopes that maybe one of the 45's he'd churn out of his buddy Connor Seidel's basement studio in Montreal's west end would end up getting in to the hands of DJ's who keep soul alive and kicking. His label's first release, "Boogaloo on Clark Street" by Black Joe Lewis & The Soul Distributors has already gained a small cult following on the soul scene. DJ's all over North America and Europe are starting to discover what Papa Bill Records has to offer.

Apart from writing and producing records, Benny ultimately decided to dip his toe in to the the realms of being a recording artist. He and his band The Private Numbers are here to keep the sounds of early R&B alive, bringing it to a new generation of young listeners who aren't too familiar with it.

Their first record, "One Hundred Years Old" is bound to get your feet tapping.
