2021 reissue, originally released in 2007 - Blockhead’s highly sought after “Uncle Tony’s Coloring Book” is back on vinyl! This latest run is pressed on limited edition green and cream records. Packaged in a wide-spine LP jacket, with full-print inner sleeves.
Blockhead switches things up a little for this latest release, straying from his "depressing shit and throwing several welcome curveballs. Its nice to hear Blockhead progress from his Music By Cavelight sound and even though Uncle Tonys Coloring Book might not be treated as an official release, hopefully its a sign of things to come. The New York producer mashes together a lot of rock licks, Bollywood breaks and childrens records to make a diverse offering that keeps you paying attention and, more importantly, is fun to listen to. Most of the tracks are dance floor material, with numbers like "Put Down Your Dream Journal and Dance heavily sampling from the disco tip and "Cheer Up Youre Not Dead Yet reaching house music levels. Oddly enough, one of the best tracks is a vintage-sounding Blockhead number called "Trailer Love, which sounds like some sped up country lyrics and guitars, but the majority of this release is definitely a departure for Blockhead that should perk up the ears of anyone who might have tuned out a little in the meantime.
