last copies ever! jacket shows some wear but VINYL IS MINT
"This amazing debut album from 23 year old Bostonian Alexander Chen spreads itself across a carefully arranged, hand-picked selection of dead-of-night home-recordings pieced around snatches of acoustic guitar, crazy fingerboard playing, rumbling bass, yearning vocal, distorted drums, expressive string sequences, cheap E-Bay organs and orchestrated laptop manoeuvres that are impossible to place. Not quite indie, not exactly electronic, not really folk...this music resides somewhere in its own constellation, nestling itself warmly on the label of his favourite band - The Notwist. During the recording of "Newborn" Alexander regularly set his alarm for three in the morning, messing around with his equipment for a few hours before slipping unnoticed back into bed. The next day during daylight, Alexander would check to see whether it was all a dream or reality, unveiling a set of recordings that are best understood halfway between the conscious and unconscious minds, like those vivid dreams that phase you all out of sync. Fans of the Notwist and Morr Music's excellent Styrofoam will adore this precious, effervescent album, another exceptional release on The Notwist's increasingly impressive Alien Transistor imprint.
