'HaHa Sound' is a truly stunning, beautiful album. In an age where great bands fizzle out much too quickly, Broadcast manage to progress, adding inspired studio wizardry and musical influence from old and new to build on their unique electronic/folkloric sounds. The initial sweet sweet opener 'Colour Me In' feels like sixties glory pop mixed with a fizzing Fennesz influence - ace. 'Pendulum' sounds even better here, a beat pop bliss ride punctuated by distorted drum crashes, synth stabs and Trish Keenan's addictively fresh vocalising. 'Before We Begin' is simply perfect pop, this album's 'Come On Let's Go' moment - rewind and float higher. Lyrically managing to avoid gazing at the shoes while feeling airy and light makes for an uplifting escapist trip. Some melodies here evoke a folk spirit of old, a bewitching touch. Fourteen tracks in total balanced between full vocal and evocative instrumental interludes.
