Upping the ante with a rapid follow-up to his 'Beyond Repair' debut full-length, Mr Kleine returns with a new 6-tracker, this time on the Morr Music imprint. His credentials are no longer a mystery - one half of the enigmatic Herrmann and Kleine and co-producer of Arovane's 'Tides' LP, Kleine's sound has been cited by many as defining the echoes of the new downtempo. 'Valis' is a sizzling piece of work, the opening slivers of first track 'Boon' wrong-footing us into thinking we were listening to an out-take from 'Music Has The Right To Children' before a decidedly Factory Records bassline slips in and turns us inside out. Shoegaze electronica? Gorgeously so. The gliding accoustic guitar opening for 'several' remains blissed out, a metalic tap of percussion and those insanely heart-warming synthlines..weve found the ghost in the machine, and it's a radiant, friendly one. 'Red Norvo' is sublime, think of Isan's finest accompanied by a campfire guitar.....more futuristic lullabies...soothing sounds for baby part two. 'Accent' finds Mr Kleine in classic territory, the uptempo half-digitised, quasi-organic pop tune that he has come to perfect so effortlessly is here pushed one notch higher with classic status assured from first listen onwards. The closing 'Unauthorised' takes us West and on towards Miami with a bit of a nod to the machine that is Schematic - untypical territory here for Kleine, a developed mangle of percussive complexity and an array of sounds - from kids cheering to a deep melancholic flutter, generic, but given the stamp of Kleine individuality with the level to which the melodies shine, even when faced against a barrage of industrial components.
